Pommes and Peas - by Donna Blodgett - 9" x 12" watercolor mounted on cradleboard was created by accentuating the fruit's stains with watercolor after imprinting, popping pomegranate arils and letting the juices flow! Pomegranates are symbolic of fertility and often paired with peacocks in ancient artifacts revering the Roman Goddess Juno. I'm lucky to visit the ever-present peacocks at Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve in Austin, TX.
